Pentastar V6
The first engine in the Ram 1500 lineup is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. This engine produces 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that can power either a rear-wheel drive or a four-wheel drive system. The Pentastar engine uses Ram's eTorque mild-hybrid technology to optimize the valve timing to maximize fuel economy and performance. When properly equipped with the Trailer Tow Package, the Ram 1500 V6 models can tow up to 7,730 pounds. This is the standard engine across most of the Ram 1500 lineup.
EcoDiesel V6
The next engine that is available for the entire Ram 1500 lineup is the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine. This engine is the Ram 1500's only diesel option and produces 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. The EcoDiesel engine provides the Ram 1500 with up to 9,600 pounds of towing capacity. In addition to the impressive towing capacity, the EcoDiesel V6 engine provides drivers with a class-leading driving range of up to 950 miles with 4x4 and the available 33-gallon fuel tank.
HEMI V8
Last in the line of engine options for the Ram 1500 lineup is the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine. This engine provides 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Also paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the HEMI V8 provides drivers with a towing capacity of up to 11,610 pounds when properly equipped. The optional 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine with eTorque is similar to the standard HEMI V8, but it has the aforementioned mild hybrid system that adds extra torque at low speeds. It produces the same horsepower and torque readings but can pull up to 12,750 pounds when equipped with towing equipment. While this engine is available for all trim levels, it comes standard under the hood of the Limited trim level.
Supercharged HEMI V8
The last available engine for the Ram 1500 is exclusive to the Ram 1500 TRX. Under the hood of this monster is a supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8. Unlike the Ram 1500's other HEMI engine, the TRX's engine uses forced air induction with a twin-screw supercharger mounted to the cylinder head. Superchargers are belt-driven forced air induction systems designed to provide maximum air to the engine for optimal performance. The TRX's supercharger can achieve a maximum speed of 14,600 RPMs and provide an astonishing 11 pounds per square inch of boost. This provides the TRX with 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, tearing from 0-60 in just 4.5 seconds!
