2023 Dodge Hornet Trim Levels
What Powers the 2023 Dodge Hornet Lineup?
The 2023 Dodge Hornet offers drivers plenty of options when it comes to the powertrain. Standard equipment for the 2023 Dodge Hornet GT and GT Plus trim levels is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that Dodge has titled the Hurricane4. This offers a hefty 268 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, the Hurricane4 powers all four wheels with a capable all-wheel-drive system providing excellent all-weather control. To provide phenomenal handling through corners, the Hornet's all-wheel-drive system uses Active Torque Vectoring, limiting power to the inside wheels while increasing power to the outside ones to smoothly carry the vehicle through a curve. Meanwhile, the Hornet R/T is Dodge's first-ever plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. Powering the front wheels is a 1.3L turbocharged I-4 internal combustion engine. Meanwhile, the rear wheels are driven by an electric motor mounted to the rear axle. Together, the gas engine and electric motor provide the Hornet with superb AWD performance. The PHEV system gives the Hornet R/T 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, 184 of which is instantly available, thanks to the electric power. The wheels get power from the engine through a six-speed automatic transmission.
Exterior Design of the 2023 Dodge Hornet
The 2023 Dodge Hornet's design is an eclectic combination of aggressiveness, elegance, and refinement. Outside, you'll find the aggressive appearance at the front end, with a wide grille featuring a mailslot opening inspired by the Charger SRT models. On either side of the grille, you'll find slim headlight housings with a focused light beam coming from bright LED bulbs with LED daytime running lights. Dodge boasts its muscle car heritage with dual heat extractors on the hood to provide optimal engine cooling. Dodge used black lower cladding on the side skirts, wheel wells, and bumpers to add a touch of ruggedness. The overall shape of the Hornet gives off an elegant look, with a swooping roofline aiding in aerodynamics along with a slanted D-pillar at the rear. Pronounced lines run the length of the side profile, adding a muscular appearance. At the rear, you'll find slim LED taillights connected across the trunk lid by a thin LED light bar with an illuminated Dodge Rhombi logo in the center.
